Kim Kardashian Caught in Golden Shower Sex with Ray J
01.11.08 (3:57 pm)   [edit]

Kim KardashianFor the latest news on Kim Kardashian and other celebrities, visit my new celebrity Web site at PopLife.biz . . . http://poplife.biz .

At about this time last year, Paris Hilton gal-pal, Kim Kardashian, grabbed media attention for her entanglement in a shocking sex tape scandal. This occurred after the unexpected leak of her sexcapades tape with her ex beau, Ray J, who reportedly became the new boy toy of Whitney Houston. As you may know, Kim is the daughter of famed attorney Robert Kardashian, and the step-daughter of Bruce Jenner.

According to TMX.com, the raunchy tape featuring Kardashian and Ray J has the two engaged in various sex acts, reportedly including a "golden shower."

TMZ.com confirmed at the time that the tape does exist. The tape also has somehow made its way to Internet porn firm SugarDVD.com.

SugarDVD.com execs reportedly offered Kardashian a $2 million deal for the exclusive rights to the tape.

Kardashian insisted, however, she wanted nothing to do with the sale of the sex tape. Kim also insisted that Ray J would not want to cut a deal either.

"There is no tape being shopped. Ray J and I remain friends, and there is nothing he would do to spite me," Kim told TMZ.com at that time.

Kardashian remained skeptical about news the sex tape has been leaked.

"I would love to see what they've seen," Kim says.

Well, now you, Kim and Ray J can see the tape, Kim Kardashian Superstar. Click the link or the photo below.

Halle Berry Has Fashionable New Boy Toy, Gabriel Aubry
03.25.06 (4:45 pm)   [edit]
Halle and GabrielSorry, guys-she's taken again! has fallen for a soft-spoken Canadian model, who treats her like a star.

At most events thrown by designer plunging necklines and thigh-flashing gowns grab the spotlight.

Not so at the glittering reopening of Versace's flagship boutique on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue on Feb. 7, where all eyes were on a 6'2" blond with broad shoulders, a chiseled jawline and-oh yes-Halle Berry on his arm.

While celebs such as Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson and Nicolas Cage worked the room, Berry, 39, and her new boyfriend, Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, 30, let go of each other's hands only once (to flank their hostess on a couch) during the party.

"Oh my God, it's like you can read it on their faces," says a pal of Aubry.

"They are so smitten."

And smitten they have been since they met shooting a Versace ad in L.A. in November.

A month earlier, Berry was still seeing ex-beau Michael Ealy, her costar in the TV movie "Their Eyes Were Watching God." But at the shoot, says Aubry's friend, they noticed each other "in a big way."

By Christmas, when Aubry flew to Montreal to spend the holiday with his father, Gérard, 62, and his eight brothers and sisters, he spoke of Berry "with brilliance in his voice," says Gérard.

Showing that kind of emotion is unusual for Gabriel, who overcame a tough childhood-he lived with five foster families between the ages of 3 and 18 until moving in with his dad-before rising to the top of the modeling world.

"He's a very quiet person, with good values," says Nadia Canova, whose Montreal-based Montage Models Inc. discovered Aubry in 1997 at a Quebec ski resort.

Last month, Aubry, a Manhattan resident, squeezed in time during fashion week in Milan, says his friend, to "buy a few bottles of red he knew Halle would enjoy."

Meanwhile Berry, who is in the city filming the thriller Perfect Stranger with Bruce Willis, skipped out of a Feb. 10 dinner party in NoHo because Aubry had an early shoot the next day.

When asked about the romance, Berry playfully zipped her lips.

But Aubry is clear about his feelings, says his dad:

"He told me he was in love."

Back Story

Halle Berry for VersaceJanuary 4, 2006--When TidewaterAlive learned Donatella Versace had picked Halle Berry to star in the next Versace campaign, we should have expected Berry to look this hot!

Photographed by Mario Testino in LA for the spring/summer 2006 ads, the Oscar winning actress follows Madonna and Demi Moore in becoming the face of the label – and Donatella's new best friend.

"I have always chosen inspirational women to represent Versace," says the Italian designer.

"Halle represents everything that is great about this collection – someone who loves colour, has a real sensuality, who is strong yet feminine and who is a real woman who has lived.

"For me she is easier to relate to and more relevant than a model and of course she looks simply beautiful in the clothes. Furthermore I have known Halle for many years and have always admired her determination and her professionalism."

"Our campaign was photographed during the shooting of X Men 3 and as she only had one day off in which to complete it, she worked tirelessly from 5am to 1am the following morning – 20 hours straight – without batting an eyelid."

Gabriel Aubry Bio

Gabriel AubryThe combination of elegance and masculinity has become the trademark of Gabriel Aubry in the world of fashion. As one of the top male models in the business, this proud Canadian radiates his glamour and elegance in many of his works. Perhaps, this quality is the essence that captivates his fans worldwide, and drives designers repeatedly to seek his image in representing their products, Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger and many more.

Gabriel Aubrey is a native of Montreal Canada, where he was born and raised. Gabriel was discovered when he was approached by a stylist. His following exposure on local fashion news spreads lead to his early assignments with Calvin Klein, Versace, Exte and a few others, but Gabriel didn't achieved his supermodel status untill the arrival of the new millenium, when he was exclusively featured in Hugo Boss ad campaigns.

This beautiful adonis now belongs to the group of elite models in the industry. Currently residing in New York constantly under the attention of fashion media, Gabriel is still a little reserved and timid around paparazzi, maybe because he is from Canada and is still influenced by the relatively conservative Canadian tradition.

This young man is very far away from the sexy image and "glamour", of which his principal employer Hugo Boss portrays him in publicities.

"I was always a super-shy person. I do not like to be made and followed by the cameras." says Gabriel.

Contrary to most women, men do not dream of being mannequins, they often become it by accident.

Gabriel is described as the prototype of androgynous or boyish model that seems to prevail at the moment in the fashion. The sharpened nose, the blue eyes and the square chin are his own characteristics in addition to his challenging and seductive glance.

He is on the runways in fashion capital cities in the world. He also projects a portrait of the perfect gentleman during his photoshoots. His work for Hugo Boss is one of his most important stints as a model.
On the runways, Gabriel is one of the favorites of Versace, Cerruti and Ralph Lauren, and among others.

Jennifer Aniston Sheds Brad Pitt Threads

has donated the clothes of ex-hubby to charity. The former 'Friends' beauty was reportedly spotted dumping sacks of her ex-husband's designer togs at a second-hand store in California. A source revealed: 'When a woman in the shop realised that it was Jennifer Aniston, she went over to see what she'd left. 'But it was too late because a worker who didn't recognise Jen had already dumped the clothes in a bin mixed with lots of others.' Last year, it was claimed Jennifer burned her wedding dress in a final bid to remove every trace of Brad - who is now romancing Angelina Jolie - from her life. The star was allegedly joined by friends outside her Malibu beach home for the 'cleansing' bonfire Reports claimed she was laughing and giggling and even raised a glass of champagne as the stunning gown went up in flames. Other items that were apparently thrown on the fire included Brad's old love letters, photos and music collection.

BradJolina Pregnant! Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Expect Baby in Summer, Jolie says: 'Yes, I'm pregnant
01.11.06 (9:19 pm)   [edit]

OSCAR-winning actress is pregnant with a child fathered by actor his spokeswoman said this morming.

Publicist Cindy Guagenti also confirmed reports Pitt has filed papers to become the legal adoptive father of Jolie's two adopted children, son Maddox, four, and daughter Zahara, who is about 11 months old.

Guagenti acknowledged Jolie's pregnancy but declined to give further details, including when the baby was due, or to say whether the couple had plans to marry. Representatives for Jolie were not available for comment.

News of Jolie's pregnancy was first reported today by People magazine, which quoted the actress as telling a charity worker in the Dominican Republic, where she is working on a movie, "Yes, I'm pregnant".

The magazine said the 30-year-old actress is expecting her baby this northern summer. Pitt, 42, and Jolie met in 2004 while working together on the film Mr and Mrs Smith, in which they played married assassins ordered to kill each other. The movie ends with the two still alive and happily married.

Rumours of an affair heated up after Pitt and his ex-wife, former Friends star split up in January 2005. Tabloid reports speculated at the time that Pitt wanted children but that Aniston was not ready for motherhood.

Pitt's divorce became final in October, but he and Jolie have until now publicly denied being anything more than friends, despite recently published photos showing the two spending private time together with her two children.

Pitt also has recently joined Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the UN refugee agency, in efforts to promote various humanitarian causes, including greater assistance to fight poverty in Africa. The actor accompanied Jolie to Ethiopia in July when she visited that country to finalise the adoption of her infant daughter. And he travelled with her to Pakistan last month to visit a remote area stricken by an earthquake.

Jolie, who won an Academy Award as best supporting actress for playing a psychiatric patient in Girl, Interrupted, was divorced from actor in 2003.

Before that she was married to actor Jonny Lee Miller, whom she divorced in 1999. A spokesman for Aniston said the actress would have no comment. "Jennifer is not in the practice of commenting on the lives of other people," he said.

Asked about news of his daughter's pregnancy, Jolie's estranged father, Oscar-winning actor told the syndicated TV show Access Hollywood: "Angie is my daughter, and I am always wishing the best for her".

Angelina is currently in her second trimester. Judging the bump on Jolie, early summer may be a good guess for the blessed arrival.

Larry Miller Movie House Refuses to Show Brokeback Mountain
01.08.06 (4:36 pm)   [edit]
A movie theater owned by owner abruptly changed its screening plans and decided not to show the film The film, an R-rated Western gay romance story, was supposed to open Friday at the Megaplex at Jordan Commons in Sandy, a suburb of Salt Lake City. Instead it was pulled from the schedule.

A message posted at the ticket window read: "There has been a change in booking and we will not be showing 'Brokeback Mountain.' We apologize for any inconvenience." Cal Gunderson, manager of the Jordan Commons Megaplex, declined to comment.

The film, starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, is about two cowboys who discover feelings for one another. The two eventually marry women but rekindle their relationship over the years. The movie's distributor, Focus Features, said that hours before opening, the theater management "reneged on their licensing agreement," and refused to open the film.

Gayle Ruzicka, president of the conservative Utah Eagle Forum, said not showing the film set an example for the people of Utah. "I just think (pulling the show) tells the young people especially that maybe there is something wrong with this show," she said.

Mike Thompson, executive director of the gay rights advocacy group called it disappointing. "It's just a shame that such a beautiful and award-winning film with so much buzz about it is not being made available to a broad Utah audience because of personal bias," he said.
Larry H. Miller became a co-owner of the Utah Jazz professional basketball team when he purchased a half interest in the team on 11 April 1985 for $8 million. Just over a year later, in order to prevent the sale and subsequent move of the Utah Jazz to Minnesota, on 16 June 1986 he bought the remaining fifty-percent interest from Sam Battistone for $14 million.

Under Miller's leadership and his private financing, ground was broken on 22 May 1990 for a new $66 million arena. Named the Delta Center, the state-of-the-art arena was completed on budget and on schedule on 4 October 1991. His success in managing the Delta Center project led Salt Lake City Mayor Deedee Corradini to ask Larry to serve without pay as the building project manager for the new baseball field, the Franklin Quest Baseball Field, constructed between 1993 and 1994.

Miller also purchased the Salt Lake Golden Eagles Hockey Team in September 1989 and television station KXIV, which he renamed KJZZ in 1993.

Europeans Outragged Over Tookie Williams Execution
12.14.05 (6:42 pm)   [edit]

VIENNA, Austria -- The execution of on Tuesday outraged many in Europe who regard the practice as barbaric. So outraged are some politicians in Austria, the native home of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Austrian policy makers have called for their homeboy's name to be removed from a sports stadium in his hometown.

At the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI's top official for justice matters denounced the death penalty for going against redemption and human dignity.

'We know the death penalty doesn't resolve anything,' Cardinal Renato Martino told AP Television News. 'Even a criminal is worthy of respect because he is a human being. The death penalty is a negation of human dignity.'

Capital punishment is illegal throughout the European Union, and many Europeans consider state-sponsored executions to be barbaric. Those feelings were amplified in the case of Williams, due to the apparent remorse they believe the Crips gang co-founder showed by writing children's books about the dangers of gangs and violence.

Leaders of Austria's pacifist Green Party went as far as to call for Schwarzenegger to be stripped of his Austrian citizenship — a demand that was quickly rejected by Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel despite his government's opposition to the death penalty.

'Whoever, out of political calculation, allows the death of a person rehabilitated in such an exemplary manner has rejected the basic values of Austrian society,' said Peter Pilz, a Greens leader.

In Schwarzenegger's hometown of Graz, local Greens said they would file a petition to remove his name from the southern city's sports stadium. A Christian political group went even further, suggesting it be renamed the 'Stanley Tookie Williams Stadium.'

'Mr. Williams had converted, and unlike Mr. Schwarzenegger, opposed every form of violence,' said Richard Schadauer, the chairman of the Association of Christianity and Social Democracy.

Williams was executed early Tuesday at California's San Quentin State Prison after Schwarzenegger denied Williams' request for clemency. Schwarzenegger suggested that Williams' supposed change of heart was not genuine because he had not shown any real remorse for the killings committed by the Crips.

Criticism came quickly from many quarters, including the Socialist Party in France, where the death penalty was abolished in 1981.

'I am proud to be a Frenchman,' party spokesman Julien Dray told RTL radio. 'I am proud to live in France, in a country where we don't execute somebody 21 years later.'

'Schwarzenegger has a lot of muscles, but apparently not much heart,' Dray said.

In Italy, the country's chapter of Amnesty International called the execution 'a cold-blooded murder.'

'His execution is a slap in the face to the principle of rehabilitation of inmates, an inhumane and inclement act toward a person who, with his exemplary behavior and his activity in favor of street kids, had become an important figure and a symbol of hope for many youths,' the group said.

In Germany, Volker Beck, a leading member of the opposition Greens party, expressed disappointment. 'Schwarzenegger's decision is a cowardly decision,' Beck told the Netzeitung online newspaper.

From London, Clive Stafford-Smith, a human rights attorney specializing in death penalty cases, called the execution 'very sad.'

'He was twice as old as when they sentenced him to die, and he certainly wasn't the same person that he was when he was sentenced,' Stafford-Smith said.

Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni said the city would keep Williams in its memory the next time it celebrates a victory against the death penalty somewhere in the world.

Rome's Colosseum, once the arena for deadly gladiator combat and executions, has become a symbol of Italy's anti-death penalty stance. Since 1999, the monument has been bathed in golden light every time a death sentence is commuted somewhere in the world or a country abolishes capital punishment.

'I hope there will be such an occasion soon,' Veltroni said in a statement. 'When it happens, we will do it with a special thought for Tookie.'

Ashes of Tookie Williams to Rest in Africa
12.14.05 (2:59 pm)   [edit]
The ashes of will be scattered in South Africa after a public funeral in Los Angeles, the co-author of his anti-gang books, said today. Williams, who was executed early Tuesday, December 13th, wanted his ashes to be scattered in Africa, Becnel reports.

"He wanted to return to his ancestral home," Becnel said. "We chose South Africa because I know some members of the Mandela family."

Williams and Becnel met in 1996, when she visited San Quentin to speak to them about the Internet Project for Street Peace, a computer program that links at-risk youths in Richmond with young people in Capetown and Soweto.

The ex-wife of former South African President Nelson Mandela was one of numerous public figures who made unsuccessful appeals to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to grant clemency to Williams, who turned anti-gang activist after being convicted of four 1979 shotgun murders in the Los Angeles area.

The body of the 51-year-old Williams was removed today from San Quentin State Prison and taken to an Oakland mortuary. Becnel said the body will be transported to Los Angeles for a memorial service that will probably be held Tuesday, Dec. 20th. A site has not been picked, "but it will be a large venue that can hold more than 16,000 people," Becnel said. Confirmed speakers include rapper Snoop Dogg, NAACP President Bruce Gordon and the Rev. Jesse Jackson, she said.

After the funeral, close friends will travel to South Africa for another ceremony and spreading of his ashes, she said. "Knowing Stan, he probably wanted to go back to his origin, where we came from as a people," said his ex-wife, "I respect that."

Williams Taylor was married to Williams before he was convicted and sentenced to death in 1981. The two had a son, who is now 32 years old and living in the Los Angeles area.

Williams Taylor also said she had talked to her ex-husband by phone shortly before he was executed by lethal injection. "He was great," Williams Taylor said.

"He said he was at peace with himself and proud of his son," who avoided the gang life. "Knowing that enabled me to accept it," Williams Taylor said.

"I was really glad I had the chance to say goodbye. "His whole legacy is so beautiful that it helps to ease the pain."

Mike Epps to Star in Richard Pryor Biopic
12.13.05 (3:57 pm)   [edit]

Mike EppsFans are grieving now, but the Mike Epps the actor who will play Richard Pryor in an upcoming biopic, was aggrieved for Pryor while Pryor was still alive.

"All I can say is, when you ask somebody about Richard Pryor, they always say something negative," Epps told the Sun during the launch of the summer film The Honeymooners.

"They'll say he was funny, but then they all say some s--- like, 'Oh yeah, you remember when he caught on fire?' Or some s--- like that. People should know about the beauty of the man."

Pryor, 65, died on the weekend of a heart attack after a long struggle with multiple sclerosis. Epps repeatedly visited the comic in the last year, a time when Pryor had all but lost the ability to talk.

"It was tough because it was hard seeing him like that, you know what I mean? It was hard for me at first, I felt guilty a little bit, because he can't talk to me and can't tell me how he feels about me doing this. It's like 'Damn! I wish we could push a button so he could talk for 30 minutes.' He'd probably say, 'Man, I don't want you doin' none of my s---. Get out of my house, f--- is wrong wit'yall?'"

Jokes aside, Pryor had input into the project, which is to be directed by Walter Hill (The Warriors), and he approved Epps.

"'Daddy Rich' tapped me," Epps said. "He can communicate off spirit, through the eyes and soul. I could look at his eyes and tell what he's saying. And if I felt like he didn't want me to do it, I'd be, like, 'S---, I'm not doin' it.'"

Epps said Pryor's misadventures -- including the infamous 1980 free-basing accident, in which he was severely burned -- will be in the movie. After all, the seven-times-married comic, who was raised in his grandmother's brothel in Peoria, Ill., got laughs from his misfortunes, turning them into material in his hit concert movies like Richard Pryor: Live In Concert and Richard Pryor: Live On The Sunset Strip.

"He was heroic in that way," Epps said. "He was a hell of a person, a fighter. And that's what we're gonna show in the movie, that against all odds he still lived."

While mainstream audiences remember Pryor for movies, including his hits with Gene Wilder, (Stir Crazy, Silver Streak) fans of standup comedy, and particularly black comedy, remember an incendiary comedian who brought the N-word out of the closet and pushed every boundary by way of social comment.

Pryor, who had a platinum album in 1974 with That N-----'s Crazy, even got the word on live TV, out of the mouth of Chevy Chase. It was in a classic Saturday Night Live "job interview" sketch where a word-association test escalates into racist epithets. A short clip of the sketch aired as part of a tribute on SNL this past weekend.

He pushed that envelope to the breaking point in 1977 with his own variety series on NBC. After a reported war with NBC's Standards & Practices department, Pryor opened his first show wearing a flesh-coloured body suit with no genitals, saying he'd "given up absolutely nothing" to be on TV -- the implicit message being that he had to be creatively castrated to play in white America. NBC yanked the series after six episodes.

The reverence for Pryor among black comedians is evident locally in the hugely-popular All Black Comedy Sundays at Yuk Yuk's -- a monthly event whose comics call themselves "the Nubian Disciples Of Pryor."

Kenny Robinson, who started the local event, calls That N-----'s Crazy his Ed Sullivan moment. "It was like hearing the Beatles or seeing Elvis for the first time.

"He was simply the greatest of all time. Before him, standup comedy was nerdy Catskills stuff by guys named Shecky.

"He was hip, he was gangsta before it existed.

"He lived in Oakland with the Black Panthers and Huey Newton. And he talked about racism. It wasn't, 'Why can't we all get along?'

"It was, 'Here's why we can't get along.'"

Through his brave, in-your-face approach to standup everyone learned to take himself a little less seriously. He made us laugh hard together at ourselves and at each other. He put the spotlight on our familiar attitudes and prejudices, exposing the insecurities we hold about each other. We all really knew Pryor was not about being naked up there on stage all by himself; no way! We had to strip off our safe outer shells, too. And he knew laughter was the most power tool to expose and heal a wounded soul, not only his own.

His method was irresistible; he inspired us to accept each other for who we are, and more importantly, he inspired us to accept each other so that we could be as great as we have dreamed.

Governor Agrees to Tookie Williams Hearing on Dec. 8, Convicted Killer Closer to Possible Clemency
11.28.05 (7:02 pm)   [edit]
No California governor has granted clemency since Ronald Reagan in 1967. But has decided to hold a clemency hearing Dec. 8 for , the condemned killer who has attracted a number of high-profile backers calling for his life to be spared.

It is believed to be the first time a California governor has held such a hearing since 1992, when Gov. Pete Wilson considered the appeal of condemned killer Robert Alton Harris, Schwarzenegger's office said Friday. Wilson denied the appeal.'It's very positive, and we're very happy about that,' said Williams' attorney, Verna Wefald of Pasadena. 'We did ask for a personal meeting with the governor.'

The district attorney's office in Los Angeles County, which prosecuted Williams in the four 1979 killings for which he was convicted, strongly opposes clemency. State offices were closed Friday, and prosecutors could not be reached for comment.

Williams, 51, was the co-founder of the Crips gang in South Central Los Angeles, but his defenders say he has become an anti-gang crusader behind bars. He is scheduled to be executed at 12:01 a.m. Dec. 13.

Several famous people have rallied in Williams' support, including Nobel laureates Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Irene Kahn, who is secretary general of Amnesty International. Civil rights activists Jesse Jackson and Bianca Jagger visited Williams at San Quentin State Prison on Monday.

Schwarzenegger's press secretary, Margita Thompson, said the governor had decided to hold the hearing after receiving materials from all parties to the case.

The governor's decision was contained in a terse three-sentence notice Friday to lawyers in the case. It said the private hearing in Schwarzenegger's office was 'to be attended by counsel only.'

'The decision was made that this will afford the governor the opportunity to hear directly from counsel,' Thompson said.

'Clemency is purely an act of grace on the part of the governor,' Wefald said. 'There aren't any hard and fast rules.'

Williams was convicted of the shotgun murder of 7-Eleven clerk Albert Owens during a robbery in Whittier (Los Angeles County) in 1979, and of murdering the owners of a Los Angeles motel, Tsai-Shai Yang and Yen-I Yang, and their daughter, Ye Chen Lin, in a robbery two weeks later.

In his two years as governor, Schwarzenegger has denied clemency in two previous cases, those of convicted murderers Kevin Cooper and Donald Beardslee.

The governor denied clemency without a hearing to Cooper, whose execution has been put on hold by the courts to allow further examination of evidence that prosecutors used to convict him. Beardslee was executed in January. Because he had been twice convicted, his appeal was automatically referred to the state Board of Parole, which recommended against clemency, Thompson said.

Terry McMillan, Jonathan Plummer Settle Divorce, Plummer Loses, Gets Only $50K
11.12.05 (5:09 pm)   [edit]

As broadcast on the Oprah Winfrey Show this week, both Terry McMillan and Jonathan Plummer agree that the love they shared during their marriage was real. "I think that Jonathan did love me," Terry says. "After all of this started happening, I kept replaying the movie [Stella] trying to figure out…you can't fake this stuff."

"I want people to know that I did love her," Jonathan says. "And I still do…not to the extent that, you know, she wanted me to."

Despite their differences, both Terry and Jonathan say they've found closure after recently spending some quality time together. But neither Terry nor Jonathan plan to become romantically involved ever again. "It's not like we're rekindling what we lost," says Jonathan. "It's never going to happen again."

"I've already accepted you for who you are," Terry tells Jonathan. "But we're not gonna be kickin' it."

The marriage crumbled last year when Plummer told McMillan he might be gay, and she said she wanted to bash his face in with a halogen lamp. The breakup was phenomenally bitter, with Plummer claiming McMillan harassed him with gay slurs and McMillan saying he married her for a green card and money. At the time, Plummer denied ever acting on his impulses. But Plummer's most recent confessions to Oprah Winfrey differs from his previous ones.

"I had to act on my curiosity," he admitted on the show as Terry rolled her eyes. "I had to see whether or not I was gay or straight or confused."

And under other questioning by Oprah, he confessed also to having affairs even before the split.

Jonathan maintains that he wasn't intentionally lying about his sexuality when he was married to Terry, but agrees that he was repressing something. "I identified as heterosexual when I was 20," he says. "I may have thought about [being gay], but I didn't act on it. It was not the right thing to do at the time."

He says that in the final two years of his marriage to Terry, he began to have conflicting feelings about his orientation. "Sometimes [Terry] would, you know, bring it to my attention that guys were looking at me, especially gay guys…and women, too. But she would emphasize those guys are looking at me."

"And," Jonathan says, "I liked it."

Being honest about one's sexual orientation is important, Oprah tells Jonathan. "There are a lot of young boys and girls who are watching you right now who need the truth. And every time somebody tells the truth you free other people to also be truthful. There's no reason at this point to pretend anything. For every other gay guy out there who's repressing his feelings, at least honor who you are now."

"I didn't do anything to jeopardize my health nor Terry's health," he said, apparently referring to McMillan's rants that she could have been exposed to the AIDS virus.

McMillan conceded that when she married Plummer after a three-year courtship, she didn't expect it to last because of the 24-year age difference.

"He was like having a new puppy," she said. "You treat them good and you give them unconditional love, and they will lick you and love you back."

What do Terry and Jonathan think their relationship has taught them?

"It taught me to try and be a better person," Jonathan says. "To be truthful despite how it may hurt the other person."

"I still believe in the love that I felt from Jonathan all those years—I'm going to hold on to that. Nobody can snatch that away from us."

So the couple seems to have patched things up a bit. Plummer recently stayed the night at McMillan's, and while they didn't get romantic, they did take a bath together.

"I was on my side and she was on her side," Plummer said.

"It was sort of like closure," McMillan added.

McMillan, 54, the author of "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," finalized her divorce last month from Plummer, a Jamaican-born boy toy she picked up at a resort.

After a judge ruled that Plummer couldn't challenge the prenuptial agreement he signed in 1998, he got only $50,000 in the divorce settlement.

Suge Knight Hospitalized After Shot to Leg at Kanye West Party
08.28.05 (8:57 am)   [edit]
Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight was in surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach at 6 a.m Sunday morning to remove a bullet from his leg and repair a fractured bone.

''That bullet is a tribal mark, orientation, something we all gotta get sometimes, just as long as we don't die, it's fine,'' said Petrey Pablo. The rapper, who recently signed with the Suge Knight label, also chastised some media outlets for declaring Knight dead immediately after the shooting and for flooding their airwaves with DeathRow songs.

Knight was shot in the leg while partying in the exclusive Red Room at the rear of the Shore Club. His wounds were not life-threatening said police spokesman Bobby Hernandez.

The Death Row Records founder, who has been at the centre of some of hip-hop's most violent moments, was shot in the leg early Sunday morning at a party thrown by Kanye West and attended by stars including Jessica Alba, Eddie Murphy, Paris Hilton, the Game and The Black Eyed Peas.

Knight was to remain in the hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital, after surgery but Hernandez said his attorneys were pushing to have him sent back to Los Angeles as early as Sunday afternoon to be with his own doctors.

Police had made no arrests and have no suspects.

A group of friends waiting outside the hospitals' emergency room - including the rapper Petey Pablo who recently signed to Knight's label - said Knight was alert and talkative.

''That bullet is a tribal mark, orientation, something we all gotta get sometimes, just as long as we don't die, it's fine,'' said Pablo. The rapper also chastised some media outlets for declaring Knight dead immediately after the shooting and for flooding their airwaves with DeathRow songs.

According to several witnesses, Knight was sitting at a table with friends at about 12:30 a.m. when a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt walked up to him and fired at least two shots.

''I was dancing beside him, then I heard a pop that sounded like a champagne bottle had been opened, then I saw his bodyguards throw themselves on him'' said Lilo Kinn, a New York-based artist. ``It happened so fast, people were in a panic, trying to get out of there.''

Knight, and a sea of celebrities, have been in town attending a host of parties and after-parties all leading up to today's MTV, Video Music Award. The festive spirit of the VMA's were especially high on Saturday, the first day many parties had been on scedule since hurricane Katrina.

Rap music mogul Marion 'Suge' Knight is taken on a stretcher to an ambulance by paramedics, accompanied by an unidentified bodyguard, outside the Shore Club, where he was shot in the leg late Saturday night. Knight was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. His injuries are reported to be not life-threatening.

Aniston Pitt Fortune $200 M, Settling Privately, Finalized Oct 2nd
08.27.05 (12:09 pm)   [edit]
Friends star Jennifer Aniston is "relieved" that her marriage to Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt is now officially over.

The estranged couple filed divorce papers at Los Angeles court on August 22 after agreeing to a private settlement over their joint 200 million dollars fortune.

The divorce will be finalised on October 2, but the papers do not reveal how Jennifer and Brad will divide their possessions, although it is believed the pair will divide the 7.8 million dollars raised from the sale of their Beverly Hills mansion.

According to a Hollywood source, Jennifer - who was married to the heartthrob star for four years - is delighted the pair's union is finally legally over, leaving her free to get on with the rest of her life.

"Jennifer seems really relieved to have got the divorce out of the way and is looking forward to making a fresh start," an insider was quoted by Femalefirst, as saying.

Eric Benet Talks About Failed Marriage to Halle Berry
08.27.05 (12:02 pm)   [edit]
Eric Benet, the former husband of Halle Berry, claims he slept with other women to save his marriage with Berry.

According to contactmusic.com, Benet was so desperate to save the marriage that he thought committing adultery would be a means to rectify their troubles.

Benet, who was allegedly treated for sex addiction, says: "I'm powerless to stop people thinking bad of me. I'm not a sex addict. I was just in a desperate place in my marriage and I wanted to do anything possible to save it."

Although Benet does deny philandering, he does concede having "physical contact that was extremely inappropriate and wrong in marriage". (See below: Julia Riley, the Other Woman ... )

Benet made tabloid headlines when it emerged he had checked into MEADOWS rehabilitation clinic in Wickenburg, Arizona, for sex addiction therapy after cheating on his OSCAR-winning wife of two years.

He says, "Before, I was trying to portray an image of this person who I wanted to be - Mr I'm So Spiritually In Touch With Myself, Mr I Could Never Cheat On My Wife - I really did want to be all those things, but I just wasn't.

"I asked myself, 'Why did I do this thing? I am someone who is deeply in love with my wife. I want to be married...What is this weakness inside me that's allowing this to happen?'"

Benet says of the therapy he and his wife sought after the incident, "It's an extremely painful process. I was so disconnected and not in touch with myself. For whatever reason I had not faced some painful things in my life.

"I just kind of learned how to compartmentalise my emotions and not really deal with them. It's a very dangerous thing because then you start doing s*** that doesn't make sense."

He adds, "This past year has been cathartic as far as learning what marriage and relationships are all about. It took all this s*** for me to get real, but now I'm singing and writing more honestly."

His latest album is any indication of where Benet is now, honesty certainly sounds oh so good!

Julia Riley, the Other Woman Has Her Say on Berry Benet Split

JULIA RILEY, the woman who had an affair with ERIC BENET while he was married to HALLE BERRY, claims the R+B singer was petrified of the actress - and became Berry's "lapdog".

RILEY, a singer, claims her affair with Benet in 2002 - as Berry prepared for the ACADEMY AWARDS - was not the reason the Hollywood superstar filed for divorce in 2004.

And 35-year-old Riley believes Benet's fear of Berry ultimately ended their marriage.

She tells America's NATIONAL ENQUIRER, "He told me about one evening when he was recording some music at the house in Los Angeles, and he took a break to chill out by watching TV alone.

"But Halle and Eric's daughter INDIA were in the living room and Halle demanded that he spend time with her and his daughter.

"When Eric said he wanted to watch TV alone to cool off, he told me Halle went ballistic shouting at him. Eric would always in the end do what Halle wanted. He was like a lapdog and he confessed he hated it.

"Eric said Halle was very moody and selfish - and always wanted him to cater to her. He admitted he was afraid of Halle. She was rich and powerful and could hurt his career if he didn't fall in line."

When a scared Benet told his wife about his sexual encounter with Riley, that was when he was packed off to THE MEADOWS rehabilitation clinic to undergo treatment for sex addiction.

Riley notes, "He isn't a sex addict. He has a commitment issue."

And Riley claims there was another recurring problem in the couple's marriage - Benet wanted children, while Berry didn't.

Riley tells the publication, "Eric complained Halle wouldn't go off the birth-control pill. I told Eric to hide her birth control pills or throw them away. But he didn't do that."

Yet, Riley, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based singer, insists she's not responsible for the split, claiming she had hoped the pair would stay together.

And while many have speculated that Berry and Benet's split may have been due to the reported affair, Riley insists she didn't have a hand in the meltdown.

"The Halle that has this career making movies... is different from the Halle he married."

"I had hoped that Eric and Halle would be able to work it out and stay together. I wish them well, and I hope they can save their marriage.... It has nothing to do with my life."

Riley seems to have a lot to say though it has nothing to do with her life. Maybe Riley needs a clinic visit, too.

Jude Law Nude, Papparazzi Keeps Jude Law Exposed--Updated
08.21.05 (8:42 am)   [edit]
By now you have seen or heard about the size of Jude Law as he changed into swimware. Many would say Law is so sexy, size really wouldn't matter. Ask yourself, would you still do him? You know the answer. Quick Stats: Born: 29 December 1972 in London, England. During his career he has won BAFTA, been nominated for 2 Oscars, 3 Golden Globes. He's 5' 11", blond, slim and widely seen as one of the sexy men alive. It's not easy to be a Brit in Hollywood, particularly a Brit of the finely chiselled variety. You'll get the occasional period drama, perhaps a flukey hit murder mystery (as Jeremy Irons did with Reversal Of Fortune). But you're much more likely to be cast as a ruthless villain whose aristocratic sense of superiority has wiped out all trace of decency and mercy (as Jeremy Irons was in Die Hard 3). The only way out, it seems, is to take every chance you're given to escape Brit-ness, and Jude Law's career is proof positive of that. By challenging himself as a gay Georgian urchin, a Russian sniper, a cyborg gigolo, a mobster hitman and a crippled Confederate vet, he's utterly sidestepped the typecasters. And he's also made such high-profile buddies as Steven Spielberg. Not bad for a stage actor who once considered his first appearance at the National Theatre to be the pinnacle of success.

He was born David Jude Law in South East London on December 29, 1972, the second child of Peter and Maggie (they'd earlier had a daughter, Natasha, now a photographer), and grew up in Blackheath. It remains unclear whether his name was inspired by The Beatles' Hey Jude or Thomas Hardy's Jude The Obscure - one hopes it was the former, the latter being so remorselessly miserable. Peter was a primary school teacher, with a pony tail. Maggie taught English to refugee kids.

Into amateur dramatics, they now run their own theatre company in France. Initially attending a local comprehensive school, Law was deeply disturbed by the levels of violence and bullying and was moved to a private school - Alleyn's in Dulwich. But he had discovered acting even before this switch. While performing in a school play at the tender age of six, he found that he naturally understood "the concept of creating imaginative scenarios". Sensitive to their son's artistic leanings, Peter and Maggie would take him regularly to the theatre, always discussing the play and performance afterwards. Being one of the lucky few to recognise their vocation in their pre-teens, Law didn't hang around.

By the age of 12 he'd enrolled at the National Youth Music Theatre (where he met long-time friend and production partner Jonny Lee Miller) and, having appeared in their Joseph And his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, soon made his TV debut in a musical production of Beatrix Potter's The Tailor Of Gloucester. However, precocious and impatient for action, Law did not stick to his studies for long, dropping out of school completely at 17 to appear in Families, a daytime soap opera from Granada. From then, throughout his early twenties, Law mostly dedicated himself to theatre. He toured Italy in a production of Pygmalion, then made his London debut in The Fastest Clock In The Universe, voted the Best New Play of 1992 by Time Out magazine.

Having in 1992 appeared in a short for the BFI called The Crane, Law's film career proper made a stuttering start in 1993 when he made Shopping. This concerned alienated, thrill-seeking British teenagers fighting and wreaking havoc in dilapidated urban landscapes, and featured Marianne Faithfull and Jonathan Pryce, but it was not a success. Law was roundly panned for his efforts, but did forge important friendships - with actors Sean Pertwee and, especially, Sadie Frost (at that time married to Gary Kemp from Spandau Ballet, with whom she had a son, Finlay). Undeterred, Law returned to the theatre, appearing in The Snow Orchid, the Royal Court's production of Live Like Pigs, and Death Of A Salesman.

Then came his first breakthrough, as he caused a storm in Cocteau's Les Parents Terribles, spending the first scene of the second act nude in a bathtub. The play was a huge hit, with Law nominated for a prestigious Olivier award as Best Newcomer. Its name changed to Indiscretions, it transferred to Broadway in 1995, just after Law had finished in Ion at the Barbican's Pit Theatre (Law had actually commuted from Ion to rehearsals in New York). And, with Kathleen Turner starring, it won out again - as did Law who found himself nominated for a Tony.

His confidence high and his reputation sparkling, Law now found some prime movie parts coming his way. He starred alongside Stephen Fry in Wilde, as the spoiled and petulant Bosie whose father eventually brings Wilde down. Then came America. He was well-cast as a hopeless romantic in Music From Another Room, then played opposite Claire Danes in I Love You, I Love You Not, which sensitively placed the pain of young love up against the horrors of the Holocaust, the Holocaust being a subject he would revisit with a cameo role in Bent.

At extreme speed, he found himself in bigger and bigger movies. There was the sci-fi thriller Gattaca, with Uma Thurman, then Law's finest performance to date, as the hot-headed Southern hustler Billy Carl Hanson who attempts to shake down Kevin Spacey in Clint Eastwood's classy Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil. With all of these movies being released in 1997, Law was on a major roll. He took a brief sabbatical to marry Sadie Frost - five years his senior - on a barge on the Grand Union Canal (as well as Finlay, they have three children, Rafferty, Iris and Rudy), then went back to work. First came The Wisdom Of Crocodiles, where he impressed as a conservative medical researcher who becomes an over-sexed vampire by night. He appeared as Ted Pikul, the confused and frantic hero trying desperately to survive in David Cronenberg's futuristic freak-out eXistenZ, then moved on to a different level entirely.
In The Talented Mr Ripley, he was excellent as decadent rich boy Dickie Greenleaf, who's murdered and then impersonated by Matt Damon. Boosted by a stunning cameo by Phillip Seymour Hoffman, the movie was a box-office smash, eventually being viewed by over 200 million, and Law - also Oscar nominated for his role - won a BAFTA.

In the meantime, aside from directing a segment of Tube Tales for TV, Law had started up a production company, Natural Nylon, in partnership with Frost, Pertwee, Miller and Law's former room-mate Ewan McGregor. Nylon had produced eXistenZ, and now put together the rather weak, Law-starring Brit crim flick Love, Honour And Obey. Having returned to the stage to perform in the Young Vic's 'Tis Pity She's A Whore, now Hollywood beckoned Law once more, with his Filofax now full for years to come.

First there was Jean-Jacques Annaud's Enemy At The Gates, with Law as a hot-shot sniper battling it out with Ed Harris at Stalingrad. Then Spielberg came calling with AI, a project he'd inherited from the late Stanley Kubrick. Here Haley Joel Osment played a mecha-kid, the first robot to exhibit real feelings, but is tossed out by his "foster-parents" and engages in a Pinocchio-like quest to find the Blue Fairy who can make him a real boy.

Lost and alone, he encounters Law, playing Gigolo Joe, a cyborg programmed to pleasure women, who agrees to help him. Jude received many plaudits for his efforts, including a Golden Globe nomination, having made Joe a theatrically overblown creature, prone to camp and the odd dance (for which Jude trained for 3 months in ballet, tap and Kabuki).

After this came Sam Mendes' Road To Perdition, where Tom Hanks plays a hitman for mobster Paul Newman. When Hanks' young son witnesses one of his dad's murders, he must be eliminated, so Hanks takes him on the run, pursued by remorseless fellow-assassin, Harlen Maguire, played by Law. With his teeth stained, his face whitened and his hair pulled out to make it look thinning, Jude was making serious efforts to avoid a pretty-boy image. Next came Cold Mountain, directed by Anthony "English Patient" Minghella. Based on the novel by Charles Frazier, this saw Jude as Confederate soldier Inman, traumatised by witnessing one of the Civil War's most dreadful massacres and on a dangerous journey back to his mountain home and (hopefully) the arms of his pre-war preacher's daughter sweet-heart Ada. She was played by Nicole Kidman, who added to a stellar cast including Renee Zellweger, Natalie Portman, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Giovanni Ribisi and Donald Sutherland - and Jude credited above them all.

With a second Oscar nomination, another Golden Globe nomination and a $10 million pay-packet to boot, he'd surely made it. But there was also trouble in store. Though son Rudy would be born in 2002, Law's relationship with Sadie Frost was already on the rocks, and all efforts to save it were stymied by a quite frightening media intrusion, as well as pressures of work. Law had only four days away from the set of Cold Mountain to spend with his wife and new-born. Rumours flew worldwide that Law had engaged in an affair with Kidman, then fancy-free after her split from Tom Cruise.

Both parties denied it, indeed Kidman successfully sued the Sun newspaper for libel. Nevertheless, Law and Frost were divorced in 2003, Frost citing Law's "unreasonable behaviour" which, she claimed, had worsened her post-natal depression to the extent that she'd had to seek medical aid. Matters had not been helped when, at a kids' party at London's Soho House club, daughter Iris had eaten an ecstasy tablet she'd apparently found on the floor and been rushed to hospital. Throughout 2003, Law would remain a tabloid favourite, partly for the divorce proceedings, and partly due to a new relationship with actress Sienna Miller.

He'd met her on the set of Alfie, a remake of the Michael Caine classic, in which Law starred as the cockney Lothario, this time working as a chauffeur in Manhattan, his coterie of lovelies including Susan Sarandon and Marisa Tomei. Before this, Law had been careful to avoid romantic roles, not wanting to play upon his looks. But Alfie, charming but deeply lonely, alienated in New York and spiritually empty, was a role he could not turn down. Alfie would not be the first in a sudden burst of releases reflecting Jude's immense work-load over the last couple of years. Indeed, over 2004 he would be near ubiquitous.

He'd put in a cameo as Errol Flynn in The Aviator, Martin Scorsese's bio-pic of Howard Hughes. He'd appear as the titular Sky Captain in Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow, aiding journalist Gwyneth Paltrow and adventuress Angelina Jolie in 1939 New York as they attempt to foil a mad scientist's fiendish plot to rule the world with giant robots. It was classic 1940s sci-fi, crammed with derring-do, filmed with great imagination and deservedly hit US Number One. After this there'd be I Heart Huckabee's where Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin played "existential detectives" who dig into the meaning of people's lives and relationships.

Taken on by Jason Schwartzman to unravel a conflict he has with Jude, an upcoming executive at the Huckabee's retail chain, they're drawn into confusing areas when they're also hired by Law to pry into Schwartzman's perfect life with Naomi Watts. Following this would come the first film adaptation of the bestselling Lemony Snicket novels, A Series Of Unfortunate Events, with Jim Carrey as the wicked Count Olaf aiming to cheat three orphans of their inheritance. Jude would play Lemony Snicket, acting as narrator. There was supposed to be even more 2004 action with Tulip Fever, adapted from Deborah Moggach's novel and directed by John Madden.

This was to have seen Keira Knightley as a penniless peasant in 1600s Amsterdam, marrying wealthy merchant Jim Broadbent to avoid starvation, but then losing her heart to Jude, a poor artist hired to paint her portrait. The young lovers' only hope of escape is to make a killing by speculating in the crazy tulip market of the time. Unfortunately, Chancellor Gordon Brown's decision to close a tax loophole in the law surrounding British film productions caused the project to be shelved. But still 2004 was not finished, as Law also took on Mike Nichols' version of Patrick Marber's stage hit Closer. Here, a rather unpleasant Jude would set his friend Clive Owen up for humilation with photographer Julia Roberts, only for the two to enjoy a relationship. Later, Owen would also form a bond with Law's own girlfriend, a self-destructive stripper played by Natalie Portman.

It was harsh but rewarding stuff. Following this, Law would join Sean Penn in a remake of the Oscar-winning All The King's Men, based on the novel by Robert Penn Warren, a book inspired by the life of Huey Long. Here, in the Depression era, a Louisiana farm boy would first bring decency and truth to state politics, then gradually succumb to corruption, his story being told in flashback (like Citizen Kane's) by a journalist who's followed his career trajectory. Then would come an adaptation of Douglas Bauer's Dexterity, where Jude would star as a blue-collar worker in upstate New York who finds love with a co-worker then sees his life collapse and the factory closes and the town is decimated.

And then, for he cannot avoid the stage for too long, there would be Hamlet, directed by David Lan of the Young Vic, the man behind Law's earlier appearances in 'Tis Pity She's A Whore and Dr Faustus. Onscreen, Jude Law now appears with the greatest stars of the age, but he claims he's not tempted by the superstar lifestyle. Were it not for the paparazzi, we would seldom hear from him at all. His work-rate is phenomenal, though he's clearly picky in selecting his roles, nowadays taking only the classiest of projects. This will serve him well in years to come - major awards are surely on the way.

Johnny Depp Considers Porn Star Role with Tim Burton
08.14.05 (10:46 am)   [edit]

Hollywood star Johnny Depp has joked that he doesn't want to become  typecast as an eccentric, and therefore, wants to star in a porn film to save his career from bombing.

Depp, who has played a string of eccentric roles, including his latest role in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, fears that he will become typecast, and only be able to play the weird parts.

"These kind of characters are not so far from my own personality, but I don't want to become typecast as an eccentric. Maybe next time I should do something totally different and film a cracking porn with Tim (Burton). That would really send my popularity down to the depths," femalefirst  quoted Depp as saying to German magazine Gala.

Eddie Murphy to Divorce Nicole, Gay Rumors Rising on the Down Low
08.13.05 (2:14 pm)   [edit]
Eddie Murphy is facing Divorce, and the blogster, buzzarazzi, and the gay in the next stall at work are buzzing again about Eddie's sexuality. Remember, on this burning issue Eddie has tossed much fuel himself. Recall his late night engagement with that transvestite, or was that a drag queen. Why, Eddie? Why? I was surfing today a found the article, Famous Heterosexuals Who Are Definitely Not Gay.
Here's part of the article, which can be found at http://www.rotten.com/library... :

"I have a few rules when I'm up here... Also, faggots aren't allowed to look at my ass while I'm onstage. That's why I keep moving when I'm up here. You don't know where the faggot section is, so I keep moving."
"He put two $100 bills on my leg and said, 'Here's $200.' He asked me if I did this for a living, being a transsexual prostitute. I said yes. Eddie said, 'Do you like to wear lingerie?' I said yes. He said, 'Can I see you in lingerie?' I told him, 'Whenever I have the time.' He said, 'I'll make the time.' Then he asked me, 'What type of sex do you like?' I said I was into everything."

First off: Eddie Murphy is not queer. Absolutely not. If anything, Eddie considers gays to be simply objects of lighthearted derision. Remember that hilarious comedy routine from Raw where he wonders what the Honeymooners would have been like if Ralph and Ed were gay lovers?
"Norton, my friend. How would you... like to fuck me... up the ass? I know you wanna fuck me Norton. And you know that I know that you know that you wanna fuck me. So I'm gonna bend over. And when I do, I'm counting to five. And when I'm done, start fucking!"

If Eddie were himself gay, then why on Earth would he raise the issue? It just doesn't make any sense. Use your head.

Yeah we do and we know that when it comes to sex and sexuality there is no predicting who will do or won't do whatever, given the hot opportunity to do it. Men and women are sexual animals. Could Eddie Murphy be gay, could a priest or pastor or president walk the wildside, too? Yeah use you head. And, on another point, how hard would it be to divorce a vey wealthy man knowing you stand to get half his fortune. Use you head.

Marilyn Monoe Secret Confessions, John Miner Unveils Notes from Monroe Psychiatrist Tapes
08.06.05 (7:35 am)   [edit]

On the anniversary of the Marilyn Monroe death, John Miner, the former head of the Los Angeles County district attorney's medical-legal section, has unveiled what he says are notes of her secret confessions to a psychiatrist that show her as anything but suicidal. He provided notes he says he took of audiotapes made by Monroe's psychiatrist, Dr. Ralph Greenson.

"There was no possible way this woman could have killed herself," John Miner told the Los Angeles Times for a story published Friday. "She had very specific plans for her future. She knew exactly what she wanted to do."

Miner, 86, said he would like to see another autopsy performed on Monroe and believes the large dose of barbiturates found in her body may have been administered by someone else.

Meanwhile, fans held their annual gathering Friday near her crypt at Westwood Village Memorial Park to honor the star of movies such as "Some Like It Hot."

Conspiracy theories about Monroe's Aug. 5, 1962, death have become part of her legend. Many continue to doubt the official conclusion of "probable suicide" reached after the 36-year-old actress was found naked and face down on a bed in her Brentwood home.

Miner is the former head of the Los Angeles County district attorney's medical-legal section. He provided the Times with notes he says he took of audiotapes made by Monroe's psychiatrist.

Miner said they show a motivated actress who wanted to do Shakespearean plays and promised her psychiatrist that she had thrown all her "pills in the toilet," a possible reference to her reported drug dependency.

The notes, which Miner called "extensive" and "nearly verbatim," also show Monroe obsessing about the Oscars, alleging she had a one-night stand with Joan Crawford and speaking candidly about the failures of her marriages to baseball star Joe DiMaggio and playwright Arthur Miller.

There has been no independent confirmation of the tapes, which Miner said he believes may have been made close to the time of Monroe's death. Miner said the psychiatrist, Dr. Ralph Greenson, played the tapes for him in 1962 on condition that he never reveal their contents, and that Greenson may have destroyed them before his 1979 death.

Miner said years after Greenson's death, he broke the promise after some biographers suggested that Greenson might be considered a suspect in Monroe's death.

Greenson's widow, Hildegard, told the Times that she did not know whether the tapes existed and never heard her husband discuss them.

According to Miner's notes, Monroe praised President John F. Kennedy but never indicates she slept with him. She does mention his brother, Robert F. Kennedy, saying "there is no room in my life for him."

"I want someone else to tell him it's over," she says, according to Miner's notes.

Miner has shown his notes to several people in recent years and excerpts appeared in Matthew Smith's book "Marilyn's Last Words: Her Secret Tapes and Mysterious Death."

However, the Times received previously unpublished parts from Miner.

The district attorney's office re-examined Monroe's death in 1982 and interviewed Miner but determined there wasn't enough evidence to open a criminal investigation.

At the time, Miner mentioned that Greenson had the taped interviews but never said he had notes of them, said Ronald Carroll, a former deputy district attorney who conducted the review.

If Miner had mentioned the notes, Carroll said he probably would have sought them through a grand jury subpoena.

Snuppy, First Cloned Dog, Born at Seoul National University
08.06.05 (6:54 am)   [edit]

Snuppy, the cloned puppy grown from a single cell taken from the ear of a 3-year-old male Afghan, marks a milestone in the race to reproduce genetically identical beings for research or, as with this reproduction, for companion animals.

Snuppy, a name which is a kind of acronym for "Seoul National University" and "puppy"--a 101-day-old Afghan hound, scampered on a rain-soaked lawn and nuzzled journalists at a university campus here on Wednesday, presenting himself as proof that man could clone his best friend.

So, researchers at the Seoul National University in South Korea have created the world's first cloned dog: a playful black, tan, and white Afghan hound, which they named Snuppy.

The achievement required a staggering amount of work. Multiple surgeries on more than 100 anesthetized dogs and the creation of more than 1,000 laboratory-grown embryos led to the birth of just two cloned puppies -- one of which died after three weeks.

But the feat suggests that a market in cloned dogs, through which people grieving the loss of their favorite pets could order genetic duplicates, may not be as futuristic as some had thought. By leapfrogging a seven-year-old, multimillion-dollar US effort, the success has clinched South Korea's quickly growing reputation as a premier center for cloning and stem cell research.

The researchers said canine cloning will allow them to test stem-cell therapies under development for people and, perhaps, cure some dog diseases.

''Wouldn't it be great if the first beneficiaries of stem cell medicine were our best friends?" asked Gerald Schatten, a reproductive scientist at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine who served as a consultant for the Korean team.

Snuppy's birth announcement, published in the journal Nature, was greeted with scorn by some animal care activists, who decried the work as inhumane and wasteful given the glut of unwanted dogs.

''The cruelty and the body count outweighs any benefit that can be gained from this," said Mary Beth Sweetland, a vice president at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in Norfolk, Va. Others expressed concern that publication of the team's advanced techniques may help rogue scientists create the first human clone. But the researchers and others defended the achievement as an important step toward boosting the usefulness of dogs as biomedical research tools.

Dogs are extremely diverse, and many of the more than 400 breeds are predisposed to particular diseases. Scientists hope clones with propensities for specific illnesses will help them decipher the molecular underpinnings of those syndromes and develop treatments for the human diseases those dog ailments mimic.

''Dogs are really good models for biomedical research," said Mark Westhusin, a researcher at Texas A&M University who a few years ago abandoned a costly effort to be the first to clone a canine. Scientists have cloned mice, cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, cats, and a few other mammals since Dolly the sheep -- the first cloned mammal -- was born in 1996. But dog cloning has proven a formidable challenge, largely because of the dog's quirky reproductive physiology, Westhusin said.

In the new study, a team led by Woo Suk Hwang of Seoul National University fused cells from an adult hound's ear to eggs obtained from fertile female dogs. Within hours after a blood test confirmed that ripe eggs had been released from a dog's ovaries, Korean veterinarians anesthetized the dog, surgically exposed her reproductive tract, and flushed the barely visible eggs into laboratory dishes.

Of about 1,400 embryos created by fusing those eggs to skin cells with an electrical shock, 1,095 were deemed healthy enough to be transferred to the reproductive tracts of surrogate mother dogs -- each of which also had to be in heat, to support the growth of those embryos into fetuses. That required more surgeries, with five to 12 embryos transferred to each of 123 surrogates.

Follow-up sonograms indicated that three of the 123 surrogate mothers were pregnant. One miscarried, and the other two gave birth. One newborn died from pneumonia after 22 days. The survivor is Snuppy, for ''Seoul National University puppy."

The Science of Snuupy

A team led by Hwang Woo Suk and Lee Byeong Chun of Seoul National University announced that it had achieved the dog cloning, representing another milestone for the team of South Korean stem cell experts.

Professor Hwang Woo-suk and his team collected oocytes (eggs) matured inside dog bodies about 72 hours after ovulation.

Somatic cells were obtained from an ear-skin biopsy of a three-year-old male Afghan Hound, named Tai.

An average of 12 eggs from each female were collected and a total of 1,095 reconstructed canine embryos were transferred into 123 recipients.

Three pregnancies were successfully established in surrogate dogs using somatic cell nuclear transfer techniques defined by Hwang’s team.

One fetus miscarried and two others were carried to term. The first cloned dog was delivered after 60 days by a surrogate yellow Labrador female on April 24.

The second cloned pup was carried by a mixed-breed surrogate and was also delivered at 60 days on May 29. The pup suffered from respiratory problems during the first week and seemed to recover, but died on day 22 as a result of pneumonia.

DNA analysis of the puppies revealed them to be genetically identical to the donor dog, the Afghan Hound Tai.

This cloning technique is inefficient. It took nearly 2,000 eggs to make some 1,000 embryos -- all of which produced just one healthy puppy.

Jennifer Aniston Caught in Three Way with Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt Close to Malibu Home
07.30.05 (4:19 pm)   [edit]
Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie has reportedly moved into actor Brad Pitt's Malibu home just 20 minutes from the home of his former wife Jennifer Aniston.

Pals of Friends star Aniston say she is dreading bumping into Brad's new love Jolie.

"Jennifer will return soon from filming in Chicago and knows it's only a matter of time before she comes face to face with Angelina. But she wasn't prepared for it to be so close to home," a friend was quoted by The Sun, as saying.

"Angelina has already been seen around town in Malibu and it's a bit too close for comfort," he added.

Angelina, 30, moved into Brad's mansion with her adopted children Maddox, three, and six-month-old Ethiopian orphan Zahara last week.

It is only a 20-minute drive from the beachfront house Jen rented after she filed for divorce from 41-year-old actor Brad.

Jen, chose it because it is next to the pad owned by best pal and Friends co-star Courteney Cox.

GTA Hot Coffee A Short Summary, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Hotter Than Tomb Raider
07.30.05 (1:16 pm)   [edit]
The whirlwind of controversy surrounding the “Hot Coffee” mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas reached boiling point as multiple high profile critics tossed their opinions into the fray. With the anti-violent gaming lobbyists on one side, and with Rockstar on the other, keeping track of the argument isn’t easy.

GTA Gets AO Rating

The GTA Catagory linked to this blog has blogs containing many of the important points of view and quotes from both sides, as well as a new statement from anti-GTA attorney Jack Thompson. Thompson thinks Rockstar won’t be around much longer stating; “Take a good look at Rockstar. They won’t be around in three years.”

Thompson also thinks that Rockstars parent company, Take-Two, will be in trouble due to its monetary dealings. Whilst that’ll be good news for the anti-violent games lobbyists in the short term, Rockstar isn’t the only company producing violent games.

The issue of violence in games may be with us for a while. other types of entertainment (in particular violent movies) has had it's share of attention through the years. Games, Sex & Killin' Cop. What's next?

Another Summary Sip of Hot Coffee
For those who haven't been following the games news over the past few weeks, there's been a lot of controversy over the "Hot Coffee" modification that unlocks secret sex scenes. This kind of coverage does nothing for the reputation of the games industry, and everything for Rockstar's bank balance.

Some gamers find Easter Eggs of this sort tedious at best; sex in games is puerile escapades into the stupider subjectivities of popular intercourse. Are you amused that the most recent headlines shout out about Rockstar's revocation of a "wrongdoing". In short, they released a statement disowning the objectionable digital material, implying that the individual who uncovered the scenes in question had actually placed them in the code himself, but the investigative minds at Gamespot put the software to the test and discovered that CJ's sex-with-his-girlfriend mini-game was inherent in the code, across platforms. OOOps!

Dudes! You've let the industry down, you've let your fans down. Do you care?

The marketing wizards at Rockstar have had the pleasure of taking a back seat while their product gets more publicity than any game released by another company between 1985 and 2005 combined. Including Tomb Raider.

Gosh they couldn't but that type of attention. Indeed, all hell has broken loose around the world. Highlights include:

The ESRB's age rating system have been questioned, and the organisation is now subject to even more scepticism by the parental public. Strike One for Games.

Anti-game bills are rushed through the US government process, speeding up the already extremely intensive regulations against the sale of games to, well, anyone. Strike Two for Games.

Hillary Clinton, a potential Democratic candidate for the 2008 US Presidential election, goes into hyper-overdrive, demanding an investigation into GTA on the grounds that it undermines family values. This adds to her previous fire against GTA and cements her position as an anti-games front-runner in the race to the White House. Strike Three for Games. At this point in baseball, interactive entertainment would be "out". It continues.

The proof that the code existed in the game suggests that GTA creators Rockstar lied in their official statement about the controversy, in public, to a lot of mainstream press who only hear about games when something bad is going on. They didn't stretch the truth or speak around it:

So far we have learned that the “hot coffee” modification is the work of a determined group of hackers who have gone to significant trouble to alter scenes in the official version of the game.

In violation of the software user agreement, hackers created the ‘hot coffee’ modification by disassembling and then combining, recompiling and altering the game’s source code.

Since the ‘hot coffee’ scenes cannot be created without intentional and significant technical modifications and reverse engineering of the game’s source code, we are currently investigating ways that we can increase the security protection of the source code and prevent the game from being altered by the ‘hot coffee’ mod.

That won't bode well for future interactions with the "outside" world. Rockstar is at the front line: if the face of gaming is perceived as untrustworthy, it's likely that future perceptions will be marred with this brush. Strike Four for Games.

Furthermore, by suggesting that their biggest fans lied, they may have created a rift in a loyal base, which could fragment the common face of games, leaving it open to more destructive criticism in the future. Strike Five for Games.

But hey, by the time someone reads this summary, a few more copies of GTA: San Andreas have passed swiftly through pay points.

Waiter, more coffee, please.

Neptunes: Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo Fingerprint Slim Thug's Already Platinum
07.30.05 (9:33 am)   [edit]
The Neptune--Pharell Williams and Chad HugoIt's Home Grown Platinum. Neptunes Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo have their fingerprints all over Slim Thug’s “Already Platinum.” The Neptunes co-wrote and produced 8 songs on the red-hot hip-hop CD, which debuted at number one on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart and at number two on the Billboard 200 album chart in the trade magazine’s July 30 issue. With the production wizards onboard, platinum must be a forgone conclusion.

More Locals Make Good Music
Portsmouth blues artist Deborah Coleman has been asked to perform tomorrow night at the 80th birthday bash for legendary blues guitarist B.B. King. The event is at the Isle of Capri’s Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi. Also scheduled to perform are Dickey Betts, of Allman Brothers fame, Bobby Blue Bland, Smokin’ Joe Kubek, and King himself as the headliner.

Coleman’s resilient summer tour takes her through Montana and then on to numerous West Coast cities. She continues to work on the road in support of 2004’s “What About Love?” released on Telarc Records.

Drunk rock: Forget the Warped Tour, for an intoxicating dose of garage/punk rock that kicks like a straight-up shot of Jack Daniels, The Bottle Babies are a welcomed relief to the overflowing cesspool of whining punk/pop spewed by My Chemical Romance and Something Corporate. The Norfolk misfits — Todd Owens (vocals), Eric Thornton (guitar), Billy England (guitar), Mike Rustad (bass) and Jamie McGuffey (drums) — are hosting a CD release party tonight at The Taphouse for the 11-song “Born On a Bender.” The disc was recorded and produced by Steve Baise at Steveland Studio in Chesapeake.

The kids are alright: For the third year in a row the forward-thinking Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation department has put together an eight-week program for teenaged rock bands. Each Friday, from July 22 to August 19, one of five bands will perform at the Oceanfront in preparation for a final battle of the bands competition on August 31.

“The Battle of the Bands program was established so young musicians can learn how to navigate through the music industry,” said Caryl Thompson, the Parks and Rec Media & Communications Coordinator. “We provide a positive environment that encourages learning in a variety of ways. We want to strengthen the skills - both musical and business - these musicians will need to succeed. This program also is exciting as it challenges the public’s perception of youth musicians; the performances at the 17th Street stage break down stereotypes and dispel misconceptions. It’s truly a win-win program.”

Tonight, the Pink Floyd/Led Zeppelin-inspired Eclectic, which is vocalist Dan Smith, keyboardist Robert Nimitz, guitarist Kevin Mitchell, bassist Pat Spalding and drummer Matt Arnold, will hit the stage from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Travis roams the world with Priest: When Virginia Beach drummer joined Judas Priest in 1990, he may not have known how long the gig would last. Fifteen years later the perennial heavy metal band is still alive and kickin’ as it announced its fall world tour schedule which will take it through South America in early September before embarking on a path of northern U.S. cities and Canadian highlights.

The purveyors of “British steel” are rounding the globe in supported their critically acclaimed 2004 studio recording, “Angel of Retribution.”

From Georgia with music: For The Big Mighty, a blues-rock band that formed in Augusta, Georgia, finer pastures were found in Hampton Roads. “We moved in April of last year, primarily because we got offered the house gig at Ocean Eddie’s, but also because we wanted a change of scenery,” said drummer Jason Neal, who is joined by Brandon Bower (vocals/guitar), Levi Pulaski (bass) and Sparky Sleister (sax). “People started taking notice of us up here after a short time and we decided to make this our home.”

The quartet will perform material from its 6-song CD EP, “First Wind,” as the headlining act tonight at The NorVa.

Requiem mass: There will be more than beer brewing this weekend in Milwaukee. Solace of Requiem will be playing the main stage at this year’s Milwaukee Metal Fest 19, being held July 29th & 30th 2005. “It is the first time a band from Tidewater has been invited to play the Festival,” the group said in an email. The death metal band released a 10-song self-titled CD earlier this year.

Venue news and blues: The NorVa will celebrate its 1,000th show Tuesday with performances by Blues Traveler and Virginia Beach pop band Subject to Change, the opening act. In honor of the occasion 1,000 tickets to upcoming concerts will be given away. Having recently marked its fifth anniversary, the club has booked everyone from Prince and Willie Nelson to Snoop Dogg and Slayer, while providing local bands an opportunity to jam on the big stage.

As of July 4, Norfolk’s The Blue Plate, a new found favorite among local music lovers, has put its live band schedule on hold. No “official” explanation as to why.

The Purple Lady: Pam Shelby fronted Norfolk alt-rock band Female Trouble back in the late '80s. The band split in 1990, and Shelby moved to New York City. The self-proclaimed “lunatic” took on the stage name Purple Pam and is a notoriously outrageous performer in the city’s local live music club scene. Shelby’s first music video, “Kick in the Head,” and 3-song EP are available at www.purplepam.com. She has also starred in cult B-horror movies, including “Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV” (2000). (cq)

Currently Purple Pam is recording new songs, making her third music video and filming a new Troma (cq) movie, “Poultrygeist.”(cq)

Retailers Pull Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas from Shelves
07.23.05 (8:03 pm)   [edit]
As retailers count up lost revenues that would have been made from sales of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas this summer, some business writers are suggesting Take-Two is privately reveling in the publicity the "Hot Coffee" controversy has brought it.
GTA Hot Sex in the Hot Tub"After all, nothing says 'buy me' to a 15-year-old quite like a message that this product is too racy to sell at Circuit City and GameStop," Business Week columnist David Kiley wrote. "In my opinion, censorship and uproar will only make San Andreas and future GTA games more appealing to teen gamers, Take-Two's target audience," said Motley Fool editor Nathan Alderman.

Cheeky theorizing aside, it's clear who the losers on the front line are. Almost every major retailer in North America, including Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, and the aforementioned Circuit City, has pulled the game from its shelves.

GameStop yesterday said it would lose more than $1 million just from not being able to sell used copies of the game. Take-Two itself said in a statement that it's lowering guidance for the third fiscal quarter (which ends July 31) to $160-$170 million in net sales. "Accordingly," the company said, "guidance for the fiscal year ending October 31, 2005 is also being lowered to $1.26 to $1.31 billion in net sales and $1.05 to $1.12 in diluted earnings per share."

But when the new M-rated San Andreas is released--sometime in the next six to eight weeks--it may still be hard to find. The New York Times today is reporting that some retailers, including Wal-Mart and Best Buy, have said they might decline to carry even the "cleaned-up" version of the game. Given that San Andreas was the best-selling game of 2004, the losses could be staggering. Even six months into this year, the franchise has demonstrated continued selling power. The Xbox version of San Andreas was June's top-selling game, according to NPD Funworld. One analyst's math?

Starting with the numbers Take-Two put out yesterday--lowered guidance of about $40 million--and figuring that number to be 80 percent of the retail sales (assuming a markup of 20 percent), the analyst's estimate of lost retail sales could go as high as $50 million. "Specialty stores stand to lose more, as they had to pull their more profitable used titles off the shelves also," the analyst added. But it's not just front-line retailers that stand to suffer. Renters of games are also reacting to the rerating. In an e-mail to its customers, GameFly said, "Due to the ESRB's new AO (Adults Only) rating for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, GameFly has decided to temporarily suspend rental and purchase of the current version." Are there any winners in this game industry controversy? Maybe other publishers.

Another analyst told GameSpot that "maybe as an offset, more people go to the stores looking for the game--given all the publicity--and then buy something else." In a memo to investors yesterday, Shawn Milne of Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co. echoed those thoughts. He said that while "retailers are obviously upset with Rockstar/Take Two," given that the AO rating "blocks big box retailers, such as Wal-Mart, from selling the game," it opens the field up to other games. "We believe that the removal of GTA could benefit other publishers, such as Activision, with more shelf space (there is the possibility that True Crime 2 could be pulled forward)," he said.

And then there is the entertaining logic of Kiley to revisit. "Perhaps Take-Two should consider shrink-wrapping the game with a 16-ounce can of malt liquor and a pack of Luckys... In the long run, it might increase sales even if the company is taking it on the chin in the short run." Yes, perhaps.
